This light stand is very useful provided you incorporate it correctly. It has some nice features; first, the mounting holes are pre-drilled in the bars with the bolts and wing-nuts included, many similar products require you to use clamps or drill your own holes which is tricky and inconvenient. Second, the side-bars are nice because it allows you more light space as well more opportunities to arrange your light-show.

Things to be aware of when purchasing this product; first the knobs used to tighten the side-bars are made of plastic, so over-tightening and stripping are always a worry. Second, the height is not effective for many stage performances, the lights tend to blind performers because the angle is not great enough to shine vertically. Third, when the truss is at it's max. weight/max height, the tripod base is just barely able to keep things steady, so make sure your cables are taped etc., and be very careful. Finally, going back to the height issue, if you plan on using low-hanging lights, don’t plan on being able to utilize the side-bars. I use this product for my smallest light set-up for my DJ company, it works well for that.
