I own a ludwig begginer set and I didn't like the sound of the snare but once I got these the overtones are gone the set as a whole sounds better.

These make lousy snare drums sound good and so-so snares drums sound great. This is the most valuable single item I have ever bought. I am not as impressed with the use of these rings on toms but with a snare they are fantastic. Try the Aquarian Focus-X drum head as well. Best snare drum head I have played.
