This head is great. Combine it with one of Aquarian's regulator front heads, and you'll get a full kick sound without so much "boominess." I've found the regulator head with the small hole on the side gives more sustain and power than the regulator head with the larger centered hole. The center hole head provides a more focused sound, if you like that. With just these two heads (batter and regulator), you will not need any additional muffling. Recommended without reservation!

I bought this head because I wanted to try out the aquarian heads. Sounds great miced or not. But from my experience, you will have to buy a kickpad because on my first one, I cracked the first ply. Other than that, good product.

This head has a good tone/sound. I use a Remo WK on the reso side with no pillows/nothing inside of the drum. This produces a very loud, warm thunderous sound.

The draw back to this head is that it doesn't last long at all. 1 month is all I have been able to get out of it. They use to include a felt patch to place on the head where your beater would strike the head, but they have quit adding that little piece.

I wish Aquarian would make these heads more durable. I may have to switch over to Remo for the batter side as well if not.

I have used the Aquarian Super Kick II head for about two weeks now hoping it would grow on me, but it has not. This drum sounds like your hitting a carpet with your beaters, it's flat and soundless. I am now using my Evans EMAD2 heads (Which feature a good "punch" sound)again and will never switch to these bass drum heads. Granted Aquarian does make amazing tom heads and I use them, I just can't like this drum head no matter how hard i try.

I put this on my cheapo bass drum and it sounded great. I added a small hole Regulator resonant head, threw the pillow away and now it sounds totally awesome.
