Aurelex? Faombymail?

These reviews were interesting, it's news to me that aurelex panels prevent high volumes from escaping the room, I thought only way much mass did that.

If you're on the cheap and want to soften/condition your space I cut eggshell mattress pads into 2'x2' squares left 12" to 18" of blank wall and ceiling betwixt 'em and stapled them to sheetrock.

It absorbs no excess decibels but the room is lively but not harsh, record/rehearse in there just fine

Also did a 7' by 3' hallway with even more randomly cut pieces and 2 to 4" spaces. Did hallway face of 3 doors, plus insulated drapes along one side (I've got guitars on hangers behind drapes, almost as good as a case for temp./humidity/dust control.) A closet door swings open at one end, blocks the hallway all but 4" and voila, vocal/acoustic booth.

Next time there's a sale on mattress pads I want to get some, cut 'em lenthwise @ 18" wide and fold them into pleats then install em at ceiling corners and uprite wall corners, should trap bass.

So far I've bought two of these kits plan on buying more - work great perfect for our jam / recording room brings down the level of band practice so the rest of the house dosen't have to hear it. Add some bass traps and your set.

This is a very good deal if your space has high frequency issues in particular. If your room has problems all across the audible spectrum though, buying these without serious bass trap pannels will still leave your room sounding very boxy.

Small But with a Few Nice and Dead

I purchased these because they were cheap and small. My thought was if they didn't work out, I could toss em and no harm done. After putting half of these small things up I could not believe how well they cut the reflections down. I expected the room to be less "shiney" but they worked better than I expected. Using these small squares over a large area really does work. Instead of glueing these to the wall, I am using a 3M velcro wall/picture hanger so I can put them where I want and remove them. Since I rent I don't want to place a lot of holes or destructive adhesives to these walls, the with the 3M velcro the Auralex is perfect. I'm sure I will use it elsewhere. I'm about to order another box of 32 to round out the bright spots in this room.
