I've had this pedal for over a year, and it is hands down the best pedal I've ever owned in 20 years of playing. It makes my DW pedals look like toys. It feels so solid. There is NO - zero - lateral movement on the board, and the action is amazingly consistent. It will be the last pedal you ever buy. Worth every penny - seriously.

I got this on for christmasand I first I hated it. Compared to my last pedal it bounced back to fast. After a hour or so you get the feel of it. It can do double bass beat andall that other good stuff. Not to good for all you heavy/death metal players. Would recommend to anyone who respects the bass drum.

I've been playing drums for over twenty years, and I have never used a bass pedal as amazing as the Axis. That's a strong statement, but I'm prepared to defend it.

To begin with, I've always preferred direct-drive over chain-drive pedals...Having played for years on Speed Kings, chain-drives feel slow and clunky to me. There's always just that TEENSY bit of lag as the slack is taken out of the chain, and then must still engage the sprocket. I do not play chain pedals for this reason. The Axis more closely mimics the "immediate" feel of the old Ludwigs - LOTS of speed and control. You push it, and it responds just as quickly as you do. It's totally organic...It moves and rebounds just as quickly as your foot...sometimes faster! You'll discover you're capable of complex double-strokes and quick-beat patterns you could never previously do with a lesser pedal.

Also, all its parts are machined of structural-grade aircraft aluminum, so it's not just EXTREMELY resistant to wear and abuse, but it's about HALF the weight of a comparable DW 5000. Do the math...Less weight to push with each stroke = faster pedal = less fatigue. It's also lighter to lug to gigs, and cutting weight from the hardware bag is ALWAYS a plus.

In addition, the thing is HYPER-adjustable. From spring tension, to beater depth, to footboard length, to the variable drive lever adjustment, the Axis can be made to FEEL like any pedal while delivering much better overall speed, performance, and consistency. It's just amazing.

In short, this thing can do anything. It will take all the punishment you can dish out gig after gig and bounce back asking for more. It's maintenance- and hassle-free. And it POUNDS. I've got mine loaded with a wooden beater on a Tama Starclassic Performer Birch 20"x22"" kick shell, and it rattles the windows a block away. This is your next, and last bass drum pedal. I can't reccommend it highly enough...It's THAT good.
