This case is perfect in every since of the word for protecting my BR 1180. I am a solo acoustic artist so I perform at restaurants/bars. Having the bag for the 1180 allows me to know where everything recording is at a moment's notice. It holds head phones, related cables, and the unit itself all in this bag that is a perfect fit. The bag is made extremely durable and is easy to transport, plus it protects everything in it really well. I wouldn't fool around with trying to sub another bag, because even though this one is expensive, it does more than just get the job done, it does it perfectly and it is very high quality.
