Many other manufacturers have tried to recreate the Celestion Blue sound in a higher powered driver, and some have come close. But only Celestion has the experience and know-how to emulate the tone and response of its own Alnico classic in a modern driver that's perfect for single or multiple applications in cabinets or combos.

The power handling of the Original Blue speaker was limited by the material used in the construction of the voice coil. After hundreds of hours of testing and countless prototypes, Celestion has developed a coil that can withstand higher levels of power but leaves the tone unaffected. Such a relatively simple, yet important, development lies at the heart of a truly remarkable new guitar loudspeaker.

This is an expensive speaker no doubt. That being said, the tonal characteristics of this speaker are bright. I was looking for a speaker that was a little bright, because my amp has two blue marvel speakers and they are a bit dark for me. The application I use this speaker for, it has performed flawless for me. It is a celestion so "you get what ya pay fer" I am very pleased with the performance of this speaker and plan to keep it along time.

Chimes.

Like a bell. A big bell that you need to hit harder to get a proportional amount of chime out of it. That's how I'd sum up the relationship of the Gold to its brother Blue. That being the first question on the tip of everyone's tongue, let's talk the speaker proper.

This is the most expensive speaker I've ever used. It's also the best. There's a certain amount of harmonic content that means, with a good ear, you'll hear things you don't from a heavy magnet ceramic speaker. It's what most folk would call "pretty:" real sparkly touch-sensitive like nothing I've ever used. It has fairly early cone breakup, which tacks on a smooth compression that works with a driving power section to make some beautiful noise. Mind the fact that the magnet assembly is a good inch or so longer than most speakers. Might present a problem with some open-back combos, but if you gotta take a saw to your amp to get it in you'll be glad you did when you hear it. It's that good.

These are one of the best sounding speakers with a tube amp. The tones are full and complex. They make any amp sound good. Clean or crunched. Only drawback is that they are very pricey, but if you want the best... If your into modeling amps and tons of foot pedals than these might not suit you, you'll be better off with any cheap speaker. But if you want quality tone that brings out all the dynamics of a nice tube amp this is it.
