Lives up to the talk

They're just great speakers, I don't think it's any more complicated than that. I never understood the touchiness about where the thing is made - okay if made in England or Germany... not okay if made in Mexico or China - I don't understand. These speakers are fantastic. They appear on platinum recordings. They're loaded unto the most premium and expensive amps and cabinets on the planet. I like to think there's a reason for that simpler than some mass conspiracy or ploy. There's no secret - the speakers just rule. I dropped one on my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. The stock speaker isn't bad at all. It's a US made Eminence product dated late 1990's with a very clear sound. But the Vintage 30, barely broken in, is just way better. Not known for a ton of bottom end, the low notes nevertheless come in tightly and full and are almost the highlight of the speaker. It's actually fuller on the bottom than the stock speaker. The highs I'd say are more controlled, with some shimmer, but somewhat reserved (you have to turn up trebble to add sparkle...but that could change altogether if you play out of a tele or strat). The mids are as fabulous as everyone says they are, making crunchy overdrive and searing gain saturation brilliantly articulate. In short, the speakers live up to the talk - there's no question about it. I'm a believer. My only criticism is their price. If you're on a tight budget feel free to try an Eminence Wizard or P Jack. They're good. But if you have the cash or haven't room for compromise, these will make a good amp into a GREAT amp. I still can't believe my ears. DO break them in first and enjoy!

These are great speakers. I have them in an orange 212 cab and they sound wonderful. They handle clean tones well and really have an almost dark tone when overdriven. But do not be mislead by the description stating that these have the tone of the celestion blues. These do not have the bellness and clean tones like the celestion blues have. Do not get me wrong, these speakers are great, but if you want that Blue sound do not buy these because they are cheaper and are more updated. Save up and get the Blue speakers, they are more expensive, but worth it if cleans it is that you want. These do NOT have the same amazing tone as the blues do, but have a more distinct great tone. But overall great speakers.

Best Speaker Ever!

I love my Celesion Vingage 30 speakers! I've got an old SilverFace Fender Twin Reverb loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's and it is the vest sounding amp I've ever played through. Also, I just recently replaced the stock speaker in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a Celestion Vintage 30 and it REALLY brought that amp to life. Very colorful sound, super articulate highs, awesome mids, and really tight bottom end! Awesome speaker. It's my favorite speaker by far.

I play stoner/doom with a Les Paul through a Laney GH50L. My cab is a 4x12 closed back 5150. I replaced 2 of the stock Sheffields with Vintage 30s and it sounds brighter, has more mid articulation and sounds...more boutique or vintage in some way. If you stand directly in front of the speaker at the apex of the cone up to 15 feet away it will have shrill ear crushing mids like any speaker. But standing beside the cab, in front of it, or anywhere besides the apex sounds wonderful.

My go-to speaker

I mostly play hard rock and this speaker has been my workhorse for over 10 years now. Regardless of the amp, this is great for crunchy rhythm or leads/solos. I prefer other speakers and amps for clean stuff, but this is a great rock speaker.
