I put this on my newley defretted P bass, and it sounds amazing. I even dislike the tone of my p bass, and these flatwounds fixed the whole appreciation for p basses again. The tone is phenominal. Bottom line, if you play the same music as me, you REALLY need these.

Great on the fingers and ears

Round-wounds (stocks) feel like a file. Chromes are super smooth feeling and sound even smoother. These give you a more mellow sound and deep bass, sweet mid, and highs that don't kill your ears. You also get reduced string movement noise (but retain harmonics), reduced fret wear, and no blisters. Chromes cost more but are better than anything I have ever heard or played.

Best Flatwound String Set Ever!!!

I decided to buy this string set because i already like D'Addario Roundwounds and Half-Rounds. i came to figre out that this flatwound string set is the best one i've ever tried. i have rotosound flatwounds and the tone is good but i wanted regular sized strings though because i string bend alot with some bass solos and doing that is hard on bigger strings. D'Addario came thorugh for me and gave me the right sized strings with the tone i ultimately wanted. I put this set on my B.C. Rich Warlock Bass and it sounds AWESOME!!! it also sounds good on any P-bass or J-Bass. Ultimately, D'Addario has the best string sound and i highly recommend this set to ANY Bassist.

Tone is what its all about right? This is the first set of flatwounds I've used on my bass, and I love the tone. Very thick and punchy, no annoying highs or finger noise. It's taking me a little bit of time to get used to flatwounds feel, but I really like the tone. They have a nice "bark" to them, especially in the mids, or you can cut that and ride massive lows. I'm diggin these.
