Elixer, Elixer, Elixer, boy, I tried those things and if you like them you can have them. Wasn't too impressed with "coated" strings. I am a working professional musician and I use these EJ15 strings and change them before every show and they work great.

I should have known better. I told myself never buy these again. Well this time I'm going to listen. The sound was good for about as long as it took to write this note. It kind of goes like this.... bright, bright, bright, dull, dull dead!

Okay strings for me

These strings are okay as long as you don't over wind them while tuning a new string, since I broke the new high E string by mistake while tuning with the peg winder. Other than that, I do love to play a few fingerpicking songs, so in additon to regular light gauge strings, these extra light gauge strings are the perfect gauge for it.

Great sound for x-light strings because of the light weight they don't hold up really long good valu with sound...only comparable to Martin strings period! Other guitar makes will have different results. Mine is a low end guitar.

While other strings are oxidizing, corroding, and, in all other ways, dying in their "open air" packaging, D'Addario EJ15 Phosphor Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Strings are staying nice and fresh in their air tight wrapper. This, combined with the fact that they are consistently and well made in general, makes them a great over-all value. Comparing them to elixers seems like comparing a Mexi-Strat to an American Standard -- why bother? One costs more than twice as much as the other -- it's obviously going to have some advantages.

I am a guitar teacher, tech, and industry veteran. These aren't the best string ever made, but they are great for the money. I use them on some of my older guitars that can't handle the full tension of heavier strings, as well as on the guitars of students and clients who prefer the playability of a lighter string. They have never let me down.
