After reading the reviews, I ordered three sets of the D'Andrea Brass Tone Pins. Once installed, my Tacoma top-of-the-line jumbo six string (JR55) sounds clearer, with more sustain. My Larrivee D03R was lacking in sustain, and I actually tried to sell it to move it out. With the new pins, I am actually considering keeping it, and using it instead of the jumbo Tacoma! I also put a set on my Washburn Cumberland jumbo 12 string (front row only at this point), and was pleased there too. I am now ordering another set, so I can have 12 brass pins on the 12 string. Note: For the back row, I will have to file one side of the pins, as there will not be enough room otherwise. Also, the round headed pins are the ones you would want for a 12 string instrument, as the others would require too much filing to make them fit. I ordered the abalone pins to use on my Tacoma, as it has a lot of abalone inlay in it. To me, it looks a bit gaudy, but it's OK. My own preference is the white-dot round headed pins. To each his own. I think you will be happy with any variety... Overall, I perceived a bit brighter sound, though not objectionably so. The sustain is enhanced, which I greatly appreciate. This is a remarkable improvement, considering the low cost of the product... and it is reversible, in case you don't care for them. The strings will need to have a bend put in the end, as others have commented in their reviews. If you don't do this, the string will just pull out (popping out the pin) when you tighten the strings. In installing the strings, pull on the string, and you will feel it when it seats properly. No sweat. The only reason I don't give this product a completely perfect score is that the finish is not as smooth on the heads as they could be. Again, no sweat... I will take an abrasive pad to go over the tops to shine 'em up a bit. If you want more sustain, but don't want any more brightness, try the tusq pins offered on this web site. It is noted that Larivee went to the tusq bridge pins on their higher-end models, and they claim better sustain with those also! Buy these pins.

After reading several reviews on this product, I decided to order a set of the abalone pins because those received the most comments about their looks. I figured that if nothing else, I'd at least have nice looking bridge pins. I installed my pins on a 2007 Epiphone Masterbuilt AJ500ME (the pins fit the bridge holes perfectly). After I tuned back up, I strummed a G, and...WOW! The balance of the guitar is amazing now. The dull "boomyness" that the guitar had is gone. Overall the clarity is significantly noticable as well as the sustain of notes/chords.

I put these on my Washburn D-10 not really knowing what to expect. What I got on my guitar was clearer sound, a little brighter sound, and more sustain. My guitar had always sounded a little muddy to me, these pins cleared that right up. My guitar buds agree with me, they all have a set now too.

Put these on washburn to get a bit more sustain and brightness and i'd say they worked. Over a year ago, many string changes since and yet to have one Pop out, always bend the last inch of your string 45degrees toward the sound hole, put the pin in last and pull it up to it, should be fine. They look nice too. If you get the mother of pearl ones, use something small in the string slot to pop them out. I also had to drill out my pin holes a bit to get a smooth fit.
