Decent Stand

OK stand; nothing special. If you need to set up a number of stands quickly, it leaves a lot to be desired: too many parts that can come loose.

Center column is attached to the base with a clamping screw. This allows you to raise the base on the column for storage. But it also means you have to tighten it every time you unfold the stand. Better: fix column to base with a set screw; legs fold up, lock down.

Ribbed steel clutch that adjusts the center column is only about 1” in diameter. Ouch; hard to get tight. Wrapping a 1/4” sleeve of rubber around the clutch helps. As does a little petroleum jelly on the threads.

I haven’t found any practical need for the telescoping boom that couldn’t be fulfilled by fixed-length. One more clamping screw you need to remember to tighten.

Maximum height of boom, set horizontal, is approx 67 inches. Mic end of boom extends from 4 to 25 inches from center arm. Height of stand without boom is 34 – 63 inches. Weight: 7.3 lbs.

Made in Taiwan -- mostly steel, with plastic and rubber where appropriate to provide scratch protection or friction. Good quality.

Nothing special

Not sure why this microphone stand is getting so many high marks. The stand is made in Korea and you can tell. Many of the adjusters seem cheaply made and when fully extended with my recording microphone on it slowly sags. I was really surprised when I received it that the quality of this stand was not higher.

Got this thing on Friday and gigged with it Saturday night. It is rock-solid! Very easily adjustable and it stays put. It has some weight behind it too... not a cheapie stand by any means. Although I use wireless vocal mics this thing comes with two little cord clips to keep the mic cords held tight to the stand. Great price... buy it!

This may be the best stand out there. Spend a little more on this and you've got all you need. If you need several stands, I would reccomend the On Stage cheapies. Don't get the Pro-Line, it WILL BREAK at the clutch and you're out 40 bucks. Get this one and you need not worry about your mic stand. What? You don't worry about your stands? You will when it breaks at a gig and you don't have backups...this has happend to me. You look like an idiot trying to cobble together a stand during a show. Get good, solid equipment or it's a waste of your money.

If you are at all serious about recording, spend a little more on quality gear. It will make your experience much more enjoyable. This stand is solid.
