but not great either. I love the sound it makes but I've been through three of these in about 4 months. The adhesive is not very good at all but I saw a review that said cement and packing tape so I think I'll try that. If you know what you're doing tuning wise this pad sounds amazing.

Perfect for metal...

I used one of these with the Danmar Redwood beaters in my previous band. It produces the perfect click for metal with proper drum tuning and muffling. The kick was triggered also and with a batter head mic in the mix it sounded amazing. One night I had to play without triggers and this thing made enough noise to cut through the brutal death metal/grind we were playing.

Other ways to use it

I saw a band called "At the Left Hand of God" and their drummer used this kick pad. It sounded amazing, I thought it was all trigger! When I saw it after the show, he had the adhesive taken off of it, and had it taped to his head backwards to where you could only see the parts actually making contact with the beaters. I don't know if that changes the sounds or not from applying it normally or not since I haven't personally used it, but he mentioned it being a lot easier to take off of the head when its just taped there.

for the metal drummer

I bought 2 of these to check one out before putting it on my new EMAD head.. at first I always have used the plastic side of my pearl beater and it does sound like 2 hammers hitting each other that way. After switching to the felt side of my beaters I can realy tell a differance. I have alot of the click sound most metal drummers of today look for, and being about 1/8" thick I dont think I can ware this flam patch out. It reminds me of a programed drum sound, and takes some getting use to playing. Its also alot like drumming on a brick wall feel wise. There is no give on this pad... All and all.. I think this is what I have been looking for to get the sound I want. Im putting the other one on a EMAD 22" and getting some new felt beaters.. I think that is the right combo for the click and low-end I want out of my bass drum. I give it a A+ This is not for use w/ wooden, or plastic beaters thou..

The sound that this kick pad makes is amazing. I have a pearl eliminator pedal and I took the beaters and turned them to the plastic side. I get the distinct click that I want, and I don't lose the thump of my bass drum. I get alot of comments about how my drums sound. People are shocked to know that I don't use triggers, and I like the rebound better then any other pad I have played. However,DON'T USE WOOD BEATERS!
