I was looking for an original Dean case for my Hardtail and this case is fine for the price, nothing special at all. Solid enough while closed but slightly flimsy while open; not built for long-term gigging. The outside is black vinyl with cheap-feeling leather stitched on the ends for better protection. The stitching quality is iffy at best; the sloppy cut of the leather looks and feels like it’s straining the thread of the stitches. The handle feels like plastic but is sturdy enough. The Dean logo is stamped on the front in plain white paint. This will no doubt scratch off easily. The latches seem pretty solid but I question how long the rivets that keep the hinges fastened to the case will hold up over time. The inside carpet is very short and not as soft as I had hoped but it’s OK. It feels and smells very synthetic. It came with an extra cushion that I can only guess is supposed to be used if your guitar doesn't fit as snug as you’d like? No care guide or instructions were included. The Hardtail fits but not perfectly, once a 2nd Velcro cushion is removed. There is JUST enough clearance for the guitars’ strap buttons, aftermarket strap buttons that are ANY longer than stock will be a big problem.
