Volume IS an issue

Like another reviewer, I also have had problems getting enough volume out of this pickup. I play with a worship band at my church and in order for them to hear me, they have to turn the gain up on my channel all the way to 10. I'm thinking I'll need to get an in-line power amp or just upgrade to a real acou/elec guitar. This pickup is ok for solo songs with just me and the guitar, though.

I have owned several acoustic guitar pickups in the past from soundhole ones to the stick on pizio type. All I can say is sound hole pick ups have come a long way since the last one I owned. This is a nice pick up for amplifying an accoustic. For the guy who said he cannot get any volume with it I do not know what his problem is I have not problems with mine. Good value for the money and nice that you can use it with any acoustic and not have to alter the guitar.

I was hoping for a good pickup in case my Yamaha guitar's pickup went out, so I got this at a local guitar store. WOW! I CANNOT get any volume out of this thing! It's like I've got to purchase a pre-amp as well. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking with it. Stay far away.

It isn't the best but not bad

I have owned the pickup for a few years doing church services with it. It does pretty well as long as you don't have to turn up very loud. When you turn up loud it has a hiss to it but the sound is usaually decent other than that. Only one other downfall I see is the chord is small in diameter and seems to make some crackling sounds when moving around . Not a bad deal for the price but if your going to use it in anything but solo gigs I recomend upgrading.

This pickup does exactly what it is supposed to do, and that's about it. I've never had any problems with it, and it works just fine. I'm just not incredibly impressed with the sound quality. The pickup itself is very quiet, so you have to turn up your amp, which results in an annoying hiss sound. It's sound is also a little too crisp, not bright enough. It is nice to have on hand, but I'm gonna get a permanent pickup installed in my acoustic. Those sound better. All in all, still a great value, especially for small gigs and if you don't want to put a hole in your guitar. Just don't expect amazing sound quality.
