The Dean Markley West Coast Tahoe is a magnetic soundhole-mounted acoustic guitar pickup that has a special Qwik-Knx connector, located on the underside, for quick and easy installation or removal. Because the 24-karat gold-plated end-pin jack is a stereo jack, you can install a second passive pickup in your guitar for stereo. You could use a piezo pickup (Sweet Spot or Barstow by Dean Markley) and a Tahoe, or use a microphone and a Tahoe together. Thus, you would use a stereo Y cable to send each pickup's signal to a different amplifier or channel, setting each channel's tone independently. It's a very strange unit! Low output. You need a preamp unless going in a guitar amp. It needs tons of EQ which adds noise. The low E string is practically invisable and the B is way too loud. You have to adjust the pole pieces to balance and it's a pain. I ran through an acoustic processer by Zoom and had to gas up the outputs to max. Find something else and save the aggrivation!

I got this thinking that this pickup would be of quality being made by Dean Markley. Alas, I was very disappointed. I have a Dean Markley Pro Mag that just blows this out of the water! If you dont want any low end and no high end, then this is the pickup for you! I will be getting another Fishman to mount in my guitar instead of a Dean Markley. I suggust you do the same.
