The Acoustic Model is a piezo-electric transducer that can be mounted at any location on the guitar's top. A non-hardening putty is used to mount the pickup, allowing easy removal. By experimenting with the position of the transducer, you can determine the placement that achieves the best tone for you. Works on steel, bronze, and nylon string instruments. I bought this product with the hope that it would meet my needs for an upright bass. It probably could handle an acoustic bass, but not an upright. I tried a multitude of positions to try to get the tone and quality of sound I wanted. The tone was shallow and weak. I contacted the manufacturer for advice and they graciously responded. After much advice and effort, they agreed that this isn't an ideal application for an upright bass.
