This is my first Dimarzio purchase. After reading some reviews I decided to go for Super distortion. I installed it on the brige position of my Ibanez RG170 and WOW. I hear things out of my guitar I never knew about their existence. This pickup is so great, I wouldn't want to think about any other pickup anymore! Super distortion has become my automatic choice for the rest of my life. The best Tone, Power, harmonics and frequency response I've ever heard.

I gave this 5.0 across the board because its the best ceramic magnet humbucker going. It is simply a hot wound PAF using ceramic magnets instead of AlNiCO's. Ceramics have great warm break up, not quite as smooth and glassy as AlNiCO's. I find these PU's to be superior to gibsons 496 -500 set because the Gibsons are slightly too far on the hot side for my taste. I think Gibson is probably making the the best "classic" PAF's and I think of the Dimarzio Super Distortion as the perfect hot "70's" type ceramic couterpart to them. I have a set of Gibson 490's in my LP custom and a set of these SD's in my 59' RI. couldnt be happier.

I just recently installed this pick up in my Ibanez ARX320, along with the Air Norton in the neck. All I can say is wow. The super distortion sounds great, has a nice powerful tone that is crisp, clear, and has a nice bite to it. It is also sensitive to your picking too. If you play soft, it backs off. If you play aggressive, it will scream! Plus it cleans up really nice for some good ole country stuff aswell. The Air Norton on the neck sounds really nice with it and adds a lot of warmth and variety. This purchase was a huge upgrade from the stock pups I had previously. I'am a DiMarzio fan now!

This pickup is an excellent solution for having a smooth yet powerful sound in a guitar with an Ash body! It really smooths out the brightness associated with this wood. Sounds simply amazing through tube amps, and is quite silent during operation! Works amazingly well in split and parallel modes as well(Not too too noisy, and feels very powerful still)!

this pick up is the best.i put it in the bridge of my B.C.Rich Warlock and a PAF Pro in the neck and its sounds great,I use a creat 120w GT combo on it and it sounds powerful good for playing fast.the clean sound is great i like it, i got em' in green and it looks cool.
