Perfect for use in neck or middle position for guitars with a humbucker in the bridge, or in any position in a classic Strat* configuration. Works well through high-gain racks and preamps. Eric Johnson found that wiring an HS-2 for single coil operation produces an incredible vintage tone. Mixes well with HS-3, or YJM pickups. Also works in H-S-H combinations with the PAF Pro, FRED, Air Classic, or the Humbucker from Hell (See recommended accessories box on this page). *Strat is a registered trademark of Fender.

The Best Single Coil so Far!!

I've been consistently playing for the past 20 years, installed & ripped out over 10+ pups of different brands & I must say the HS2 & HS3 are the best SC so far. They sound glassy & clear but no hum & quiet (even when sitting in frt of a PC monitor). Great all around sound & definition. Sounds beefy when overdriven & very descent under mass distortion. I have HS2s in the neck & middle w/an HS3 in the brigde. All 3 provide that classic strat tone w/ the 5 way switch.

Clean pickup

I wanted to compliment a new DP100 pickup that I put in the bridge and since I liked it so much, I stuck with Dimarzio. I put a HS-2 in the middle and a HS-3 in the neck. This combination is great since they all have good tone and are completely different. I can use the HS2 and HS3 combo and sound clear and clean with or without some overdrive. Then I can kick in the DP100 distortion pickup and rock-out using the same amp settings. These pickups are clean and hum free. I keep them wired in standard humbucking and did not bother with coil switching. Oh yeah, this is in a plywood strat copy which now sounds nice.

This is an amazing pickup.

I have it in the middle position of my Strat wired thru a DiMarzio EP1108 Micro switch. When combined with the standard five way Strat switch. I get 11 diferent tones.

I have a Seymour Duncan SH1 Hotrails in the bridge and a Lace sensor gold in the neck

I have it wired for "dual tone with single coil switching" - The DiMarzio site gives several wiring variations.

I love settings #2 and #4 on the five way with the EP1108 set to the middle position - killer tone! Setting #3 on the five way with the EP1108 in the middle gives the best single coil sound I have ever heard.

BUY THIS PICKUP!

clean sound a little dull, better in single mode

At first I put this in the bridge but then I put it in the neck wired in single and that sounds much better. But I feel the clean bottom end is a little flat, stale. I put a Blue velvet in the neck and thats WAY better, much more like a strat but still too noisy, VV Blues is my real ticket. All in all for the price this pickup is not bad but we all know that real tone is in your fingers.

I upgraded my mex strat with this in this middle with HS3 in the neck. The two sound amazing. The HS2 is very well rounded with a great vintage clean tone that also mixes great with other pickups. I am also impressed with difference in noise or hum compared to stock. The have really no noise unless your playing with high distortion and pedal. All around it is probably the best pickup for ** bucks around.
