The DiMarzio PAF Proİ was created when chops-intensive playing was reaching high popularity, and high-gain amps and rack systems were the norm. A pickup was needed that combined a lot of presence and "cut" with an open-sounding PAFİ vibe. The transparency of its sound lets the PAF Proİ slice through heavy processing, where darker-sounding pickups get lost in the mud of the effects chain. Low notes have both snap and chunk, and there is a spike in the midrange that gives the pickup a subtle "aw" vowel sound, like a wah-wah pedal stopped in the middle. Treble response is tweaked, so high notes stand out without getting brittle. The PAF Proİ makes an outstanding neck pickup in almost any guitar, and it's an exceptional bridge pickup when high output isn't required.

The PAF Proİ is a dependable choice right across the board - neck and bridge positions, solidbody, semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars are equally effective uses.

This is a great building block pickup, because it's effective in many different situations. Try it in the neck position with a hotter bridge pickup - anything from a Nortonİ to a Super Distortionİ will create a calibrated two-humbucker match. As a bridge pickup, it's really effective with single-coils, because it won't drown them out with too much power, and it's bright enough to blend in tone-wise.

After researching and reading really good comments about this pup, I decided to give it a try and found that it sounds clean and glassy but very little sustain and poor harmonics, compared to the AirNorton that I installed in one of my guitars. The Norton has a fat sound, warm tones and it doesn't get muddy at all, very responsive for soloing with heavy distortion and superb for cleans, very versatile, you can play blues, jazz, ska, hard rock, classic rock, etc. To me the Air norton is phenomenal and a must have... PAF PRO sounds good but not as good as I expected.

I got this pup installed in the neck of my warlock and it is truly remarkable. The amount of styles you can play with this pickup is outstanding, thrash, funk, jazz, rockabilly, etc can be played with a quick tweek on the eq and the tone is heart breaking. I got an X2N in the bridge and that gives me all the versatility I need to play any style of music that comes to mind. Highly recommended.

Sweet Tone

I recently replaced the stock Fender pickups of my American Strat HH with the DiMarzio PAF Pro in the neck and the Super Distortion in the bridge. It immediately became my favorite guitar. The PAF Pro gives such smooth sweet tone for blues and rock, just perfect. Matched with the Super Distortion in the bridge has given me all the versatility I need, such a wide variety of tones, especially with coil tapping. Perfect for everything from blues to rock to metal. Don't settle for second best, load up your guitar with DiMarzio tone.

Perfect pickup for me

I have an Ibanez RG570 from like '88 or '89, with a Bill Lawrence L500XL in the bridge and a Ibanez IBZ bridge model in the neck for years and loved the sound for distortion and harmonics but not so much when playing clean. I wanted to try PAF Pro's for a long time but was worried they wouldn't be hot enough and I was so wrong. I just bought a pair of F-spaced DiMarzio PAF Pro's to put in the RG570 in the neck and bridge and they were exactly what I've been looking for. The distortion and harmonics are still there, in fact harmonics are a lot easier to get now plus they actually sound better, my tone is a lot better and the PAF Pro's really respond to hard or soft picking which is what I wanted but couldn't get before. I can't get over how great they sound clean, I can play so many more styles of music on the same guitar now. I really love the tone they have although I don't hear the "aw" sound they're described as having. I couldn't be happier with them and I'm playing with old strings, can't wait to hear them with new strings. I plan on getting more to put in my other guitars when I can afford it. I love these pickups and recommend that people at least try them, I think they'll be suprised since they are known for being low powered pickups compared to distortion class pickups. I should mention I only play at home with small portable amps like a Roland Cube 30, Micro Cube, Vox DA5 and a Toneworks Pandora PX4 w/headphones so I don't know how they would sound live on stage with bigger amps, but I'm totally happy, finally.

This pickup is a rad bad-ass mofo pickup, in the bridge...I mainly play blues, punk and metal and it does all those and some with finesse...For metal it has alot of balls and sounds very meaty yet, yet cuts above the bass on the higher strings...worth the ammount I paid for it...I got it installed in a cheap Epiphone Les Paul Junior with Grover Tuners, which I added to it, and it's the best thing I've played...High Five to Larry Dimarzio...
