Joe Satriani has used the Fred as his main bridge pickup for years. This year Joe asked DiMarzio for a hotter and bigger version to replace the Fred in his Ibanez guitars. In response, DiMarzio created the DP216 Mo' Joe Bridge Pickup, and it's all about tone and definition. The name says it all. It has more power than the Fred, but it doesn't sacrifice clarity or dynamics.

Additionally, all the harmonics that made the Fred guitar pickup so good are all there, ready to jump out at the touch of a guitar pick. Having more output makes it a perfect match for the PAF Joe in the neck position. The combination delivers great versatility and control from rhythms to solos.

Recommended For: bridge position, solid and semi hollowbody guitars.

Tech Talk: The last few years have seen Joe develop a new signature tube amp and start using heavier-gauge strings more often. Both developments emphasized the importance of the Mo' Joe pickup in having a high degree of string separation without sounding sterile or processed. DiMarzio achieved this by slightly increasing the distance between the center frequencies that the coils are tuned to, without increasing DC resistance. The result is a pickup that's both hotter and more articulate.

I bought a Schecter Blackjack C-1 FR and I was happy this the stock p-ups, but I added the Mo' Joe in the bridge position and I can tell a huge difference in sound. Mo' Joe is very hot and has slight overdriven sound when the guitar volume is maxed! But if you roll back the volume it cleans up wonderfully. It responds to your pick attack very well regardless of your volume setting. I'm totally happy with this pick-up. Great for any style, but perfect for a lil' Satch Boogie!

This pickup is no joke, The harmonics are crazy on this. I have the F-Spaced Its a pretty high output pup but not the highest, but that has nothing to do with it. I put this in my Jackson Stealth and man does this thing blow away my EMG 81 I had in it. the notes are so much cleaner and the harmonics are so much louder on each fret. My Jackson always had sweet harmonics with whatever pickup I had in it. But this thing even beat my expectation. I will never be be able to blame my instrument for a missed harmonic now. lol

Great pickup. Installed in a Warmoth basswood strat. Sounds great distorted or clean, harmonics are awesome. I have 3 guitars, play them through a 15 watt Line 6 Spyder 3, the MoJoe sounds the best. I plan on buying 2 more.

I put one of these and the PAF Joe into an epiphone 58 V reissue. The stock pickups just weren't performing up to my expectations, and as a result I was contemplating selling or trading it in. Well boy am I glad I didn't. This instrument went from dull & muddy sounding to pro level studio sound. No kidding. I was completely blown away by the difference this simple mod acheived. I reccomend these pickups to all my guitar playing friends. In my honest opinion, these pups are probably the best choice I could have made in regards to this instrument. Try a set,you won't be dissapointed. I'm not,in fact I ordered a second set to put into an epiphone Les Paul Custom. Same results,in both instruments. Great tone, great price, fantastic pickups.

Ibanez GRX has come to Life!!!

I took my low end Ibanez GRX that plays great and put in the PAF Joe in the neck with a MO'Joe in the bridge. This combo automatically turned this guitar around. It sounds amazing and really expresses notes and chords, especially the low end strings up on the neck are clear. No muddyness, notes really come out and sing. The Mo' Joe makes my solid state like a tube amp. The distortion is clear and vibrant. The Mo' Joe with the PAF Joe established my cheap guitar to contain high quality sound/tone. I am estactic playing my guitar. If ya like a fat, warm, in your face, clear tone then go for this combo.
