The DiMarzio DP222 D Activator-X bridge position humbucker features the same striking look as DiMarzio's X2N pickup. DiMarzio has adjusted the output and tuned the coils to different frequencies to create a powerful sound. The D Activator X is wide open and surprisingly clean pickup when the volume control is rolled down, even with extreme metal and high-gain amps.

Tech Talk: The DP222 D Activator-X bridge electric guitar pickup uses the same bar pole pieces and magnet structure as the DiMarzio X2N, but it's a very different pickup in other ways. Output voltage is slightly lower than the X2N, and the tuning of the two coils allows the high frequencies to open up while still maintaining very strong lows and mids. The DiMarzio D Activator-X pickup is also very good for clean, bright sounds in split and parallel modes.

This pickup is very clean and smooth. My favorite part about this pickup is that it lets your amp push the high's from your guitar - unlike your typical pickup that tend to sound brittle on the treble side IMO. I replaced my Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus in my Fender Strat with the DiMarzio. I love the tones from this guitar even more. This is a very high output pickup that is super clean and great for heavy distortion and cleans. Sounds very good in full and split modes. I play in a cover band so I need it to be versatile. It took forever to get it, but worth the wait, order one!

I love this pickup. I recently got this pickup. I put it into a Jackson Warrior WRXT and it has such a great sound. The sustain and pure rawness of this pickup is amazing. If you play metal this pickup is for you.

I've been searching for a decent metal pickup to put in my Jackson DK2T. I was wanting something very articulate and loud, but not shrill. I was about to put normal D-Activators until I saw these, and I said what the hay lets try it out. I play through a VHT Pittbull UL-100 head and this pickup sounds amazing through it. I play Death Metal/Thrash and it definitely gets the job done. If you're interested in a more modern sounding X2N that stays extremely clean on the clean channel but ultra brutal on the gain channel, this is your pickup. Also, just like the description says it does get very clean when you turn down your volume on the distortion channel.

Well....what can i say, it is VERY high output, just a little less than the X2N, and with that comes extreme gain, and dirtiness, on distortion or with a pedal, you'll feel like you will need to take a shower it's ssooooo dirty, however, ever taken a shower while playing guitar? well turn the volume down, and now you have the perfect CLEAN pickup,so if you like the X2N, you'll LOVE this...

I had a friend come over last Sunday with his Ibanez RG Prestige with the stock DiMarzio/Ibanez pups. I thought his axe sounded "Dead" compared to my little Gio with the D-Activator neck and bridge pick ups in it! These pups sound huge. They're loud with a lot of crunch and bite. They're very, very clear and are capable of awesome pinch harmonics! I have this running through a VK 112, so I get great tube sound along with them. These are an awesome metal pickup! You won't be disappointed!
