Specifically designed for 7-string guitars, the PAF-7 incorporates some of the same technology employed in the Virtual Vintage pickup series to produce a sound that's both clean and open on the low notes and warm and rounded on the highs. Comes with 4-conductor cable.

Humbuckers from the 1950s employed Alnico 2, 3 or 5. DiMarzio found that by using a ceramic magnet in the PAF 7 they could achieve the same low magnet-pull as Alnico 2 or 3, with the power of Alnico 5. The ceramic magnet keeps the sound of the low strings bright and clean, and Virtual Vintage technology inside the coils is responsible for warm high notes and the playing feel of '50s humbuckers.

The DiMarzio PAF 7's came stock on my 07' Ibanez K7. When played clean, it produces a warm mellow sound Ideal for chords (neck-pickup). The bridge when disorted gives a warm but kind gritty sound. If your a korn player, these can handle the low tunings. However, If your a metal head you might want to look into EMGs

I bought an Ibanez K-7 which comes stock with the PAF 7's. The clean sound for these pickups are absolutely beautiful. Has a real fat sound, and I haven't heard much better. When the distortion is added though, it seems VERY bity [bite-E]. And it doesn't seem to distort as easily as the EMG 81-7 and 707 that I have in my other 7-string. Definitely doesn't have a smooth distorted tone. If you're looking for a nice clean tone, this pickup is great. If you're looking for a nice distorted tone, I would look elsewhere.

I got two of these that came with my Ibanez K7 that I recently purchased. Overall, I am VERY happy with these. They have very toneful cleans and the sound is just AMAZING when distorted. The only complaint I have with the pickup is that the 7th string sounds slightly mellower then the rest. I have found good harmonics with the 7th string are hard to acheive unless heavily distorted. All in all, an AWESOME pickup. Great for loud metal concerts or mellow church music. Recommended for anyone who is serious about 7 strings.
