This hum-Canceling 2-piece pickup brings big, punchy sound that adds gain and solid tone to P Basses. It accurately reproduces the sound of your bass and cuts through the band without sacrificing bottom-end power. Gutsy midrange growls when the bass is pushed hard. Combine the Model P with a DiMarzio Model J at the bridge for a killer range that includes warm bottom, tight midrange, and bright, clear attack.

Just installed them on my '73 P-bass. I agree with all the following from Dimarzio:

Brings big, punchy sound that adds gain and solid tone to P Basses Gutsy midrange growls when the bass is pushed

Also pretty easy to install, but make sure you get educated on proper soldering techniques if you are new to soldering like I am. Instructions are pretty clear, but not as well written as I would have liked. Minus .5 in my review as a result.

I installed these in a Precision Lyte bass that I own and it made a huge difference. I'm not real crazy about this particular bass because it doesn't quite have the guts and growl that my regular P-bass has. However, after installing these DiMarzio P bass replacements pickups it sounds great! I'm actually enjoying the sound now. I have used Seymour Duncan quarter pounders up to this point. The DiMarzios sound just as good, are cheaper, and in my opinion, better made. You won't be disappointed.

Vintage P sound

I own A standard ( MIM)p bass, after installing these pickups it sounds like a vintage Fender, It's great for that Deep Motown Bass sound we all love, or versatile enough for rock, blues or jazz,. This is a must buy!! dont spend twice as much on an American Pb ass when you get a MIM fender and upgrade! I would put my bass against any P bass!!! and I mean any!! Bass players always come up to me to ask how I get that deep deep growl, they tell me it sounds Like I'm playing a vintage bass going through a tube amp!! And I'm Loving it! Get these pickups

I started out playing on an old Fender P bass. An unknown bassman. The bass needed lots of work. This pickup was just the thing. Now I am known as Mr. Scary, the bass is known as Bell to my fans, and is just as famous as I am in my home state! So if you have a P bass and it needs love give it the the old DM shot in thr arm!
