Well I won't insert my name but lets just say out of the 52 wks of the year I'm on the road about 35-40 of them on tour, this product just makes common sense, I will agree it does add to the noise on drummers ears, but thats why there's a company out there that makes noise cancelling in ear monitors and they work great together. The sound of the overall stage w/ each drum mic'd and not seeping into stage mics makes for the perfect balance through your crowd monitors...there's a reason why these things have been around for years...

bought one a few weeks back, and i personally think it kinda sucks. as for muffling the sound, yeah, kinda, but more than anything it just reflects back at you. it's nothing to write hom about. i gave up on trying to make it stand on its own for longer than ten minutes and started using it as a partition between my kit and random gear.

I saw a drummer in Las Vegas over 20 years ago with a shield and thought it would be great. I mentioned it to my bass player back then and he thought it was stupid. Well years later we're playing a really small club and ny cymbals were right in his ears.....2 weeks later I have the shield. We get a better mix with it and the stage volume is so much nicer. I should have got one 20 years ago

Well, having talked to other drummers, I must offer my input. First, the design is flawed, with the assembly and the fact that it's only standing up on its own, which means it can tip if you fold it out too much. But the sound... Yeah, quieting drums, noble enough. But, you can't hear the other people because not only are the panels stopping the sound, they're reflecting your sound back at you, which means you are destroying your ears. UNSAFE!- So, the solution would be a studio monitor, right? Well, if you have the equipment to get studio monitors set up, then why are you buying this? Honestly, be smart.

This shield was bought to keep some of the drum noise out of the vocal mics. I was totally against it at first (how dare you try to quiet the drums?!) but is has grown on me. As far as assembly, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I had mine together in about 20 minutes. I didn't know there were so many whining drummers out there. It is kinda cool being in your own little space and the general opinion is that the overall sound is better, although it's a little harder for me to hear everything else. They call me "the boy in the plastic bubble." If there is a drawback, it's that I have to look at 5 reflections of myself looking back at me!!!!!!
