I've own it for the past 9 years, i've drop it a few times but still working well. this is awesome if you take the time to learn how to use it, you can do violin sound, cello sound, flute sound, and some weird sounds like whale sounds, infinite feed back, very fast bow strokes, i use it in many songs and for many reasons, you name the song and i tell you what you can do with it.

I have had one for many years and I love it. I've used it on some recordings, and I use it a lot in worship at our church. It would be nice if they made some kind of accesory for it, to hang it on a mic stand. I usually wrap some tape one it, so I can hang it on something, so it's nearby when I'm performing. It works great for "With or without you" - U2.

I love my EBows old and new

I have two EBows; an older, black plastic with red script standard model that's been dropped, superglued, and resoldered back together a couple of times, as well as one of the new E Bow Plus models (I lost my original, and didn't find it in a suitcase in the trunk of my car until after I'd bought a new one), w hich has the two way switch (regular, and harmonic). The EBow produces some amazing sounds! For the two buyers who's EBows went dead on them, I'd suggest checking the leads to the battery clip; if pinched enough by the cover they will break. This is fixable. In any case, I've had no issues with my new EBow plus. It works great with any electric, regardless of manufacturer.

Barely used, now it's dead

Got mine as a gift in 2002. Used it once in a while at home for about a year. Put it in its box for a few years, pulling it out maybe once or twice. Put it back in the box and didn't touch it for about 3 years. About a month ago I finally found a reasonable use for it in my band, so I took it out of it's box, put a battery in.... nothing. Tried another battery... nothing. There was no battery leakage anywhere inside, absolutely no reason for this thing not to work. Of course it's no longer under warranty, but it should've lasted longer than the few combined hours I used it. I asked a bandmate who works on his own gear to open it up and see if he could fix it. He couldn't see anything wrong and he couldn't fix it. So it's dead.
I've had lots of electronic music gear sit for years, even bought used stuff that sat in damp garages in extreme temperatures for decades and they still work just like new. I just don't understand why the EBow died. Since other reviewers have stated the same, I must assume it's poor or defective materials and workmanship. The EBow costs as much as a quailty effects pedal, so it should last as long. What a waste of money!

Before buying, read this!

If you are considering buying one, hear this. The rumors that they are faulty have been reaffirmed in my case. I purchased one and It worked fine the first time on a Gibson SG through a Vox AC15, after which I gingerly placed it back in its cloth case and box. When I wanted to use it a week later, it rolled over dead. A fresh battery was to no avail. Obviously it has worked for some, so will you take that chance? Just know that if you buy this product, it's money that you will never have again.... spend it somewhere else.
