This set kicks butt!

This is a great pickup set and will completely blow you away! I love the ease of installation, no soldering, plug and play. These pickups in my '97 Strat are amazing. My only complaint and a warning to anyone, is that I had to shave the backside of my pickup cavity in order to make them fit. The '97 Am Standard Strats come with the universal pickup routing. It could hae just been that my Strat was not routed correctly. But I chisled out a good 1/8 of an inch toward the bridge so this would fit. Other than that, no problems, huge sound and you still get that strat sound with the neck pickup and tone all the way up. Humbucking sound is great. Beware, these are hot, hot, hot! If you use an affects processor you will have to back off the gain or signal output. The Bridge 81 is a little high end for my liking, but when combined with the neck it sounds great. It would have been perfect with a 81/85 combo.

I have one of those crappy Squier Stratocasters and I was hoping to modify it to make it more playable, because I have always hated single-coil pickups (to me, it seems like they give a really puny sound). And when I saw there was a Kirk signature pickguard with active humbuckers, I jumped right on it man. Installation is great because you don't need to solder any of the wires. Just disconnect all of your old wires and plug the one included in to the panel (the instructions are very detailed, most people should be able to do this by themselves). If you are even considering on buying this, look no further!!

Got the KH emg pick guard set in and couldn't wait to install it. Installation is a breeze with really only three wires to connect to the output connector (which a new one is included). I went further and extended my battery connector wires and placed the battery behind the back cover on my strat. The hole was already drilled through on my guitar for the bridge ground wire (which EMG tells you to remove). I squeezed the battery between the springs of the tremelo and it fits fine. I hardley ever use the tremelo because it's the stock unit and it creates tuning issues. If you have a good tremelo set-up and use it a lot, it might not be a good idea to do this as it may interfere with it. My guitar also only had 8 screw holes to hold the pick guard on and this set-up has 11 (which new screws were provided). I did have to add a couple new screw holes to my guitar but mine wasn't an expensive collector model or anything. If yours is you may want to count and make sure your guard is held on with 11 screws or decide whether or not you want to add 3 screw holes or leave a few empty holes on the pick guard.
The pick ups sound amazing and LOVE volume. On many of my effect presets with the old single coils I couldn't crank it up too high without the classic single coil hum and also feedback. The 81's can rock to 10 without feeding back and with very minimal if any hum. The sound is quite a bit fatter than the single coils as well (humbuckers are of course). These sound as full and fat as any other humbucker I've played so at the neck position I really don't see a need to go with an 85 the 81-81 setup is great. Instead of just playing the neck pick-up when I want the full sound, I like to play through both of them and get the best of both worlds. Totally awsome sound, low noise/high volume, and an absolute breeze to install. EMG's Rock!

I got a Fender Stratocaster for christmas, I really love it, however I am a rock player and wanted a humbucking guitar. I then found this. It was a dream come true it will fit right on there. It screams, it plays the blues, and it really howls. I will probally never get a guitar without putting EMGs in it. If you love to rock get this product.
