The H4 is the equivalent of EMG's 81 Active Pickup without the "active" that uses two "bar" loaded coils for "balls to the walls" tone. All HZ Pickups have EMG's exclusive 5-wire quick-connect output allowing any number of wiring combinations, and are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.

I am very picky about my tone and have changed stock pickups more times to count. I got these pickups in my epiphone Zakk Wylde and I was blown away by the sound. These babys rock. You can get all kinds of great rock tones with these from classic rock to thrash metal. If your looking for a replacement pickup because you want to beef up your tone, than this pickup is your answer. I could go on and on about how great this sounds. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

8 years ago I bought an ESP that came stock with HZ's and it was the greatest things I've ever heard. I tried to find them so I could put them in my warlock but they weren't available. I've had the zakk wylde set in my les paul for years and recently put an HZ in the bridge of my korina explorer and you can't tell the difference. If you want emg sound without the battery hassel you can't go wrong with the HZ!

I own both the active 81(best lead pickup available) and the HZh4. Honestly, its the passive version of the 81, don't be fooled! Both have their pros and cons. No, the HZ isn't as good as the 81 in lead applications... But realize this, the 81 has ABSOLUTELY NO body or definition when it comes to actual chords. In a ten point scoring system the HZ would get a 9.5 in chord definition, a 10 in attack, an 8 in lead ability, and don't forget, you can also switch over to single coil tones with the ease of a simple switch. Though my passive HZ has enough output to satisfy my harmonic and lead needs, at heart, I rely on complicated chords. that's where EMG HZ (h4) pickups shine. Sum: The HZ is the chord worthy version of the 81. Hell, get em both.

I was a little hesitant to try this pickup - after all - EMG is known for their awesome active pups - but I was desperate for a hot pickup for my SG and decided to give them a try - WOW!! - don't sleep on these !! - these are Made in America, high output, high quality - EMG humbuckers - they surpassed all my expectations BIGTIME !! - these pickups are STRONG with plenty of "CHUG" - AND if you really want to blow the roof off - use these with a 1000 meg volume pot !!!!!!! - OMG !!!!

This pickup easily brings the heat! The 81/85 set up I have in my goth explorer doesnt touch the hz-h4! If its possible I'd say they could be too clean! So if your not dead on then you can def. hear it. Though on a crummy amp there potential is not even possible to show. I have this in my ESP and the combonation is amazing!BUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUY!!!
