these tings seem to last forever. me and my friends can sometimes sit around and pick for hours. i play with a bluegrass band and it seems as if everyone changes their strings atleast once a month but i been usin mine for 3. however, i first put them on and they sounded really really bright but aftera few days of hard pickin they dulled a bit and sounded even better. they dont hold tune too great but its just a little tightenin daily, but id use them again, but id say just try all strings and find what works for you.

I own more than 20 guitars and basses and have been playing almost 40 years. I bought a guitar off someone who added the selling point of putting on brand new Elixirs. Well, I had read the reviews and was looking forward to a transformative playing experience. Dull and lifeless would be my assessment. I assumed the previous owner had indeed not really used the vaunted Elixirs. I replaced them the next day with D'Addarios phosphor bronze and hooray! Recently I sprung for some actual Elixirs, put them on my Martin and was immediately the dull, plodding reminder of my first Elixir experience. When my strings start to sound like this, that's when I know it's time to replace them! They may hold their original tone longer than other strings, but what good is that if the tone is that of an end-of-life string? For this we're charged 2-3 times more? Not a good value for my money. I probably won't even try Elixirs for electric guitar.

i put these strings on two of my acoustics which never had a problem tuning. but after putting them on, you could not get the tuning right. in order for a G chord to sound right, you'd have to tune the B string down almost a half a step. then a C or an Am would sound off. Id stick to the polywebs. they dont have this issue.

I have tried just about every type of strings on my acoustics to find the best, but these 80/20 Elixirs are by far the best I have used. They really do last for a long time... Every time I pick up my guitar, it feels and sounds like I have just re-strung my guitar with new strings. I'm talking after months of playing, and I play several hours every day... They do have a very different feel to them though, but you will love them once you get used to the feel;(the coating makes slides and barres so much easier). A lot of people say that these strings decrease the tonal quality (because of the coating), but I strongly disagree. They are insanely expensive for a single set of strings no doubt... but in my opinion they are cheaper in the long run. It's like having an (almost) everlasting set of brand new strings... I highly recommend that everyone tries these strings despite their high cost.

I used to use martin marquis sp 80/20 strings, but after trying these strings, I have never gone back.

After reading the generally glowing reviews of these strings I decided to give them a try. Boy was I disappointed. Not only do they not hold tune well, but they sound dull and lifeless. I was led to believe that these strings were incredibly durable and nearly unbreakable. I broke my A string after only a few weeks of playing. While I admit I'm not especially gentle with my instruments, I was still surprised at the lack of durability. I will not be purchasing elixir strings again.
