Celestion killers right here...

I have a Vox AC50 that was loaded with a Celestion Greenback and a V30. Never really fell in love with the tone of those speakers. So, after much research, and a couple of phone conversations with Eminence (yes, they will actually talk with you on the phone), I went with a pair of the Private Jacks. HUGE improvement over the Celestions! Very warm, great highs (but not shrill), nice low-end. Absolutely made my amp come alive. Tone like you would not believe! If you want great speakers at a great price, look no further than Eminence. Made in the USA, and just smoother sounding overall compared to the Celestions I've owned. If you're on the fence about trying them, don't be. You will not regret buying these!

These are truly great speakers that have all the warmth of good Greenbacks with a little better top end.

Best Greenback Tone and Handles 50 watts!!!

I've owned a few tube amps in my 15 yrs of playing. Notably a Bogner Shiva, VHT Pittbull, Peavey Classics, Budda SD, and my current favorite an Orange Rockerverb 50. I set out to find a speaker that I liked better and would be more versatile than the V30's. I also run a custom open back 2x12 and not the matching Ornage closed back cab.

After trying more than 2 dozen speakers including everything currently available from Celestion, Eminence, Tone Tubby, Weber, etc; the Private Jacks are my choice. By far the best sounding speaker in the Eminence line-up and much better sounding than any of the others I've tried.

They are a very vintage ad woody greenback tone with fuller lows and a singing highend that has non of the celestion harshness to it. They almost sound like alnico's in this regard. They are very smooth and even, not ratty or gritty at all. They sound much better the the Clestion greenback reissues and handle a generous 50 watts each. They also remind me of V30's in a way with that woody chunck, just an amazing speakers these Private Jacks.

I used the Celestion Heritage G12-65's for a while and I really liek those, but after comparing to the PJ's, the G12-65 sound to thick in the mids (almost muddy) and is very tight and aggressive compared to the spongy, organic breakup of the Private Jacks.

In closing, I will say that the ONLY speaker I like better than the Private Jacks at this point are the Scumback M75's. Those are the top in my opinion.

This is not just some random review, I'm a player with ALOT of experience under my belt and consider myself EXTREMELY picky and professional when it comes to tone. Trust me, if in doubt, try these Private Jacks, they will surely not dissapoint!!

Great Speaker W/ BIG tone

I have a boutique amp that came with this speaker as a stock item and the engineer who built the amp tested MANY speakers before choosing this one. His goal - sound like a BIG 4x12 cab with just one speaker. IT DOES. It's got somewhat extended highs and lows with a deep bottom but it's neither flabby or fizzy.

In a classic rock or alternative application this speaker won't let you down. I love mine and would buy another in a second if lost or stolen. Size DOES MATTER and this speaker makes your guitar sound bigger and better.
