Great for the money

Just got the Epi case pictured here (the broom-shaped one, not rectangular). Structurally very sound/heavy duty, although I did notice (like some other posters) that the points of my flying V are pretty tight - I have to wrestle a bit to get the guitar in. However, it fits, and the case closes fine with the guitar in it. I love how light it is compared to my Explorer case, and the padlock latch is handy. Hardware is sturdy too; I'm not worried about dropping it. The plush lining has some glue spilled in a couple spots (nothing that'll scratch my guitar tho) and it's a bit sloppy right next to the accessory compartment. I don't much care about that though; I just need a case to protect my V, and I'm VERY happy with this item.

TKL case but Epiphone only...

I recently purchased an Epiphone Flying V case.

First, when the case arrived I immediately noticed the latch closest to the headstock does not align properly. The top and bottom halves are off by approximately 1/4 inch. As such, it make that latch seem insecure when latched.

Second, inside the case was an area approximately 8 inches long where the fur lining was coming off at the top of the case. I re-glued this area but am concerned about others areas coming undone as well.

Third, this case does not seem to fit my Gibson Faded Flying V guitar. The portion that holds the body is VERY tight at the V points. So much so that it seems that I have to force the guitar into the case. I was told that the case is not meant for Gibson guitars. Though it may be possible, it would seem rather unlikely that TKL would manufacture two distinct cases, considering Gibson owns Epiphone and I believe that specs are the same for both Flying V's.

I got the new wide rectangular shaped case. I guess that's what they are sending now. On the inside the V shape is a perfect fit for my goth v. There's tons of space in the compartment for strings, books or strap. Also, it came with a lock and key. The quality is Excellent.

Sorta good, sorta bad...

I bought this along with a Gibson 3-pickup Flying V. First of all, what I received was NOT the case pictured. I'm pretty sure Epiphone has discontinued the broom-shaped cases, because the case I got was rectangular. At first sight, it seemed to be pretty good quality, and the cargo area inside the case was cavernous.

Unfortunately, with the good, the bad comes. The guitar fit at the points just fine, but at the neck/body area, it didn't fit at all! After dismantling the case a little bit, I found the underneath to be made out of styrofoam. So I took a razorblade and (very) carefully cut out the offending areas to make the guitar fit. I ended up removing a whollllllllllllllle lotta styrofoam.

I still recommend buying THIS case over the more expensive Gibson case, but get ready to hack away part of the case.

I got this for my Gibson Faded cherry V. It fit snugly at the two points, there's a gap behind the body a bit. The top closed perfectly with no resistance, I shook the case at every angle but there was no slipping inside. Mines mad by TKL. It doesn't have a satin sheet or Gibson snake skin vinyl, but this is the same quality. I will remove the epiphone name from mine with nail polish remover as I haver in the past. You'll be proud of yourself for saving the bucks, I know I am.
