I got thes head about a month ago and I was blown away how great they sound! much better than the ec2's! Great 4 gospel, r&b! go get some you wont be disapointed!!!

I act as my son's "drum tech" and just replaced the tom heads on his Ludwig Maple Classics (Fab 4 setup) and you'd think they were made for each other. The toms tuned up quickly, with very little effort to seat the heads and tune them to themselves. I've always thought that Ludwig drums sound best when they're allowed to sing (resonate) a bit and shouldn't be overmuffled. The EC1s allow my son's toms to provide excellent tone (sing) while eliminating any offensive overtones. I also expect that they'll be very durable, being they're 14 mil thick, but I was also surprised at the degree of "attack" and "articulation" that is still preserved by the heads being single-ply. Evans and Ludwig...an impressive and classic combination!
