I don`t know what everyone is complaining about,I`ve got doubles,and they are holding up just fine...no signs of breaking down...and the sound is great,they actually sound like you want them to,nice deep and low,bass,sound...perfect...and if they were to break....I would definately buy tham again...they make my Tamas sound great...

I just bought this head today, and I am extremely impressed with it's sound. It sounds like it is mic'd. No pillows or blankets needed, obviously, because that is what the rings are for. I have been reading that the ring holder cracks and falls off over time, so I will have to see about that. I'm really hoping that won't happen to mine because this is the best my bass drum has ever sounded!

Please allow me to rain on the EMAD's parade. I bought one....once. When it was new, it was everything it is billed as. Within a very short time, it started falling apart. The plastic/nylon ring that holds the felt muffle ring in place rapidly started cracking and coming off. I tried to remedy it's rapid failure with black vinyl tape to no success. Eventually, I had to discard the felt muffle ring and tear off the remaining plastic that once held the ring in place because it was buzzing so badly. All of the damage was only caused by the vibration of the drum head when played - no abnormal conditions. Total life span of the EMAD was less than a year. All of this and it was on a kick drum that is only used about twice per month for shows. For the money, it is a lousy buy. Do like I did, get a regular head, and get some foam weatherstip from the hardware store and use that to muffle your kick drum. It's cheaper and will last much, much longer...I mean really, how often should you have to replace a kick drum head?! Not as often as the manufacturer would like you to!

the Evans EMAD drum head will make absolutely any bass drum sound amazing! i put it on my cheap Pulse kit and its absolutely tasty! i will never use any other head ever again. the dampening rings eliminate any possibility of overtones. you will get perfect pitch and tone every time.

The stupid inner foam ring does not stay even stay in the bass drum. Every 3-5 time i hit the head the foam rings would pop out. There is no obvious sign of defectiveness and i'm suprised no one else has had this problem. They wont stay in after just a few hits its awful, i don't suggest buying this.
