When I put these heads on my kit as batters they made my drums sound very hollow and they got a weird ring but when I put them on as resos with Remo Pinstripes as the batters the sound was amazing. So batter=horrible, Reso=Great

They're durable I'll say that, but they made my drums sound a little hollow. I prefer a coated head. I have a hard time keeping the drums in tune with these heads. Tightened too tight and "thump" dissipates and made my drums too high pitched. Loosen them up too much and there's no response...no way to roll fast on them. Of course I play a Ludwig Led Zep set so with big drums like that I need bigger heads. These heads came with the kit. I would up-grade to a heavy coated head and save these for lighter jazz drums perhaps. For heavy rock/punk/metal - that sort of thing - they suck. Go with Remo.

Evans G1 clear batter head

I have used this head on my friend's old Pearl 4-peice drum set, with a 12" and a 16" tom. The toms had a lot of overtone but he had some Evans e-rings on the toms and on the snare, and the rings really helped the overtones. But even with the rings, I still didnt quite like the sound. They made the drums sound hollow, and echo-ish, and had a strange, faint ringing that made the entire set sound weird. I highly recomend the Evans G2 coated batter head, you wont be disapointed with that one. But this one is unpredictable. I dont recommend getting these.
