I have played this head for over a year and I do not like it much. Not much rebounce, sound is not fast. It's a good replacement head if you don't have a lot of money for other better heads. If you're looking to upgrade heads, maybe not this one.

First off, this head is EXTREMELY durable. The coating is fantastic. It is made with great quality by evans. The problem for me though was it took way to long for me to get a tone from it. You really have to stretch it out first. After this head I tried Aquarian Response 2. Trust me, the Aquarian is a superior head and it is just as durable. Although this head will do the job, the Texture Coated Response 2 is the way to go.

These heads are very nice. You can get a lot of tones out of them, personally i like my floor toms real low and my rack toms warm with a little singing overtone. They are easy to work with, i have the most trouble with the 13" matching the others, but it always works out. I actually use 2 16" floor toms since i haven't bought an 18" yet. I use the floor from my old set and put on a coated G2 and it works. It shows how great the heads are that i can take a crappy floor tom tune it beneath my 16" birch, and it holds its tone. They sound great live and recorded.

I have maple drums made by ddrum. I had previously used Evans Hydraulics but decide to switch to coated G2s. It was one of the best decisions of my life! Floor toms sound so low and punchy, that you can feel the bass frequencies through your legs! The 12" rack tom took some work but eventually fell in line with the rest. Honestly, my 14" floor tom sounds as low as my 16" when it had hydraulics on it. Buy it, try it, love it!

I too replaced my snare head with one of these and i absolutely love it. it makes even my lowly export snare sound great. so im buying a full set of these for my tom and i hope ill have similar results. great for everything but bass. the aquarian superkick is the way to go there but evans all the way other than that.
