I bought this head month ago. Before, almost ten years i played on Evans ST Dry and make a decision to try Evans HD Dry.I put this head on my TAMA ARTWOOD maple 14X6,5 snare and Evans HAZY 300 on resonant side.Result was fantastic.Great tone, short sustain, loud and fixed sound.Im very satisfied. If you're hard rock drummer, buy this without fail!

I just bought this snare about 3 hours ago and my local guitar center to replace my 13" evans ec reverse dot snare head (which happened to be too bright and oddly toned for my taste). I went in looking for an evans power center reverse dot, which i really like not because i'm a hard hitter but because it has a nice ring that makes my 14" snare sound so musical, but they didn't have it in 13" so i purchased this head instead, just to say i've tried it. It didn't dissappoint me or anything, is just really IS dry, haha. i thought maybe it'd be a little ringy, but alas, shear crack. Still sounds nice on my 13" by 7" maple snare though. Definately lets my ghost notes sound more like snares, not just head. Worth a try guys! Especially if you like a ringless snare.

I tuned this very tight on my 13 by 3 pearl piccilo snare and was amazed. A very nice crack with little to no ring. Well worth the money.

Decent, but has its problems

This was the first snare head I ever bought to replace the stock head on my Stagg snare. My snare drum isn't the best, but this definitely improved the sound and at first I was reasonably pleased with it. I bought Evans heads for the rest of my kit, too, and they were also good. However, this head simply doesn't produce as much volume as they do.

After 9 months, the coating on this head started to come off and the sound is now definitely worse than when I bought it. I recently bought a Remo CS snare head, and IMO it gives a better sound and is louder than this head. Obviously, I can't speak for the durability, but I suspect it will last at least as long as this head did.

Both this head and the Remo head are good value for money, but for my money, Remo wins. This is still a decent head, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I really like this head, I used to use it all the time, and I just recently put it on one of my new snares. I love the sound once It is in tune, but the one problem I have is tuning it to pitch. this head is so dry, that It is extremely difficult to find a definite pitch. so I recommend this head to people that don't necessarily tune to perfect pitches, and it does cover any off tuning to an extent. but if you are picky about tones like I am, you might want to look into something more like a Remo Controlled sound. (what I've been using for 7 years)
