Designed to add durability in the spot where the stick strikes it the most, the Power Center also adds focus to your sound. The coated, perforated, center-reinforced head still allows overtones to ring freely when struck on the edges. The head has an open, bright sound and creates a fat backbeat.

Evans Power Center Head Features:

  • Single-ply, 10mil head
  • Coated
  • Center-reinforcement dot

Normally you might trash a single-ply head, but not the Power Center. Buy it today and get a head that can take a beating.

Excellent snare head

I decided that the coated EC I was using on my snare just wasn't cutting it, and having used this power center on a previous drumset, I bought it again. Smart decision. My snare drum is a completely different animal now with a massive crack and a beautiful tone (and twice as loud). From what I've seen they can be pretty durable for a single ply, but they can be broken if you Krog your way through several shows. Still, this is a great snare head and I've used it on both metal and wood snares with the same results.

This head only sounds good when you hit it hard in the center. If your someone like me who rolls a lot while drumming or uses brushes, this is not the head for you.

The under dot is probably better than on top

I normally use an Emperor Coated on my 14" maple snare but the shop I use was out so I decided to try this out. The one I picked up had the dot on the TOP side of the head (it is also made with the dot on the underside). The head didn't sound bad at all but I was disappointed with how quickly the dot on the top deteriorated. (Meaning the dot cracked and started peeling up.) I've have used two of these heads and the same thing happened with both. I play that snare with a heavy hand so I'm sure that has something to do with it but I expected longer life from a snare head with a reinforced center. I would recommend the head with the dot on the bottom but most def. not the one with the dot on top. As well... with the dot on top as drum magazine, review say, do not work well with brushes.

Snappy

This snare head is pretty sweet. I put it on my Pearl EX snare, with an Evans 300 on the bottom and it sounds GREAT. I have it tuned real tight and it just snaps. I just cranked it down and it sounds amazing. I think it doesn't ring too bad, but I like a snare with a good pop and a little ring. It doesn't dampen the sound unless you want it to. Basically, this snare does what you WANT it to. It sounds great no matter what.
