SCN on my MIM ash body jazz bass

I installed the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Pickups to my standard FSR jazz bass ash body, it really is noiseless, very quiet, nice and deep bass with good highs (treble). However, it lacks the mids and thickness. I would prefer the Vintage Noiseless instead.

...I just popped these puppies into my mexican jazz and the difference was like night and day. I love the neck and feel of my jazz standard but now the tone and crispness of the sound are amazing. Even through my practice amp the quality difference was obvious.... do it!

Don't buy these if you got an old Jazz

I've had Seymour Duncan's, DiMarzio's, and EMG's that fit perfectly in my bass (68 Jazz). I bought a set of Fender SCN's and guess what??!! They don't fit. They are about a 1/4 inch too long!! I talked to Fender tech support and the only answer I got was "they are what they are". How can EMG, DiMarzio, and SD get it right and Fender can't even come close!! What about the guys with old bassses that want to upgrade their pickups??

WARNING RE. MEXICO BASSES

Be warned that if you have a Mexican-made Fender Jazz Bass, the bridge pickup may not fit in the body without modification to either the body or the pickup! These are made for the American-made Fender Jazz Bass and will not fit the Mexican without some alteration.

Must have replacement for Fender Standard pickups

Fender basses made in Mexico have inferior electronics. With these inferior pickups, you will likely get maddening noise from the electric grid that will interfere with your practice and performance. Before you buy another set of pickups, you might first try lining the pickups cavities with copper shielding tape. If that doesn’t solve your problems, go and buy a set of pickups. These in particular are very good providing quite an improvement; no more electric buzz and a nice round tone. To do this yourself, you’ll have to go to Radio Shack and get a small soldering iron, rosin-core solder, and solder remover braids (less than $20). When you get your pickups, get your iron ready (be careful kids). Take off the stings, pickguard, pickups and volume knob housing, exposing the pickup chamber. Note how the two wires on each pickup terminate at the volume knobs, the black one on the volume knob and the white/yellow one on a terminal. Also know where each pickup goes (underside of pickup). One at a time, de-solder the four leads into the volume knobs and re-solder the leads. Be careful not to sever any other wires or the ground wire to the pickup. Overall, these pickups are a vast improvement on the original factory pickups.
