Just what the doctor ordered

I have an American Standard Srat and did not like the sound of the stock pick-ups. I installed a set of the SCN pick-ups and a set of Fender locking tuners today. It now has the sound Robin Trower gets from his strat. Over the past year I have tried 14 different types of strat pick-ups from fender and othe makers in different strats to make them sound unique from each other. If you were to mix a Hot Noiseless, a Fat Fiftey, and a Tex Mex the result would sound like the SCN pick-ups. I love the huge bell-like sound Trower gets and these did it for me with my rig. I've read some bad reviews and don't understand why someone would get a terrible sound from such a good pick-up set, they must be doing some thing wrong or have a poor amp match for these. I run through a Morley George Lynch wah wah, a Dunlop Roto Vibe, then into a Pod XT Pro with the left going to two Fender Hot Rod Deluxes with extension cabinets, each with one 12 inch Celestion. The right side goes into an early 60's 100 watt Marshall Plexi half stack with vintage green backs. The super fat tubular bell-like response of SCN pick-ups is awesome sounding. If you have a good tube amp and like the way Robin Trower or SRV sound then you'll like these.

I have a stock American Tele. I love the sound but could'nt stand the hum. I purchased a set of scn noiseless pick ups for it, installed and adjusted them with ease. I plugged the ax up and these pick ups made all the difference in the world. No loss in the bite that my tele has. It sounds great.

Versatile Pickups

These came stock in my Fender CS Strat Pro and they are really very good sounding versatile pickups that easily cover tones from vintage to modern quite easily. I run 10-46 nickel strings on this Strat too. The key to getting these pickups to sound great is in the height adjustment, and if set properly will really be versatile as well as put out great tone. Start with setting them right at 6/64" on treble side and 8/64" on bass side, then plug into your amp and begin with the neck pickup first and finely tweak it untill you get the best tones and balance, remember, you will be very close to where they need be set, although you may have to tweak one or the other end PU height adjustment screws 1/2 turn to 1 turn max either way. Be patient and the tone is there. Check the Fender Custom Shop Video's for this Strat with SCN's in action for reference to tone.

These are Strat pups?

These came in my Fender Custom Shop Pro Strat. Are they noiseless? Yes indeed they are. But they barely have any Strat character. I have tried nickel-wound and pure nickel strings, adjusting the pup heights, and 5 different tube amps. I couldn't get a vintage Strat tone out of these at all. If anything, they are dry and cold, close to the crappy pups Fender put in during the late 70's. The bridge pup is okay, but the other two positions are horrible tone-wise. If you're a tone freak or a vintage fan, look elsewhere.
