Nice tone, no noise

I recently had the SCN installed in my tele along with the 4 way switch with both pickups in series for the option of a fatter sound than is typical for a tele. I played a friend's tele with vintage noiseless pickups, and they were also nice, but in my opinion, the SCN are brighter, preserving more of that classic tele tone. They may not be quite as twangy as some of the true vintage pickups, but are a good compromise of tone with no hum.

I like these pickups, but save yourself a few bucks and buy the Vintage Noiseless instead. I have the SCN and the Vintage Noiseless pickups installed in two separate Teles and I can’t tell the difference.

Wonderful pups if installed correctly

These have a classic tele sound without the annoying hum of a normal single coil. The problem some reviewers are having with the bridge pickup exhibiting microphonic issues is a result of incorrect/incomplete installation. For SCN pups (or any noiseless pups for that matter) to work in a Tele, a non-metallic non-ferrous bridge must be installed. Stainless steel, brass, or aluminum all work. Gotoh and Glendale both sell bridges that will match the screw orientation of a MIM or MIJ tele bridge.

Beware the microphonic feedback!

These pickups sound very good. I say "very good" and not "great" because they are somewhat flat. I wouldn't say lifeless but they lack the punch and character of alnico pickups. I put these in a thinline 69 RI that did not have an issue with microphonic feedback. They were fine at low to mid-range volume levels. However, when I turned the volume up the bridge pickup really squealed. I'm not even talking excessively loud volume levels, just average rehearsal levels in the garage. The neck pickup is fine and has no issue with feedback but the bridge is a problem. Beware!

Mor Par!

These give little hotter sound. Still have ringy tele sound. Neck is maybe slighty darker. Just installed them on my American Standard ash body. Ash is a little brighter than alder. Stronger sound overall and quiet. Nice sound little pricey but worth if ya got the change. I gave value 4 because of price.
