Not terribly impressed

The ST-1 looked great in the pictures, but in reality, it is cheaply made, light-weight plastic. Fit and finish is pretty bush-league, and battery life is mediocre. It tunes fairly accurately, but because of it's lack of LEDs, it is very easy to overshoot and tuning can take longer than it should. Not cool when you're on stage! I was hoping for something with a little more to weight to it so it doesn't rattle off of my rig, but this toy can't weigh much more than an ounce. Even for the low price, there are better choices. Better luck next time Fender.

For Live Use It's Great

I play bass fulltime in a gigging rock band on the usual club circuits. I use this tuner in the "tuner send" feature on my SWR SuperRedhead. Main two basses are a Rickenbacker 4003 and a Hofner 500/1 or a 500/2.

I've used this tuner four nights a week in smokey bars and dives for about two years and have had no problems. Since it sits on top of my amp it gives quick, accurate and easy-to-read tuning on the fly. A quick flick of the speaker off button, check the open strings and harmonics, speaker on and off you go. Great!

I can't seem to find a power supply that will run it correctly, even the multi-selector models.

Since our shows are the basic four-hour club gig, I get about two-to-three shows before battery replacement.

Only complaint is the price for a plastic housing. It finally died on me last night and I had to use a backup.

It's a good tuner for the working the musician. You probably will not want to go back to your old pedal or rack mounts. But, buy two of them so you have a backup.

Great tuner, easy to use. However mine quit working after about a year. I'll probably buy another one, though I wish the quality was better.

Huge display is a live performance bonus, tunes extremely accurately, best built-in tuning mic I've ever used. My only concern - the plastic housing. One good stomp and this thing is done.

Darn Good Tuner

I've had one of these for two years and got online to get a second one. It's fast, accurate, and I've had no problems with it breaking even after or cats knocked off the couch (several times). It's easy to read from a distance which is a BIG plus for me (very bad eyes). As far as battery life goes, turn it off when your not using it and it shouldn't be an issue.
