I have many Strats. It's hard to beat the tone of my Robert Cray Stratocasters. For my Mexican Strats the Tex-Mex pickups were a great addition. The price is great and the quality and tone are exceptional. Now all my Strats have the same bell like tone that a vintage Strat has. I bought 3 sets of Tex-Mex pickups and am very satisfied.

Hot and Bright

Well I purchased these 2 weeks ago. I wanted to replace the pickups on my MIM strat. I tried to get used to these but they were too trebley, the only think I liked was the punch, specially of the MID pickup, the neck was alright. The Bridge was the hottest but way too bright. I have owned American strats and MIJ compared to those I wasn't satisfied with the tone of these pickups. The magnets are too strong that they take the sustain from your guitar. I found some use for these but I had to lower the pickups a lot. But Im planning on buying seymour duncans next time they sound fuller.

High output with a tone somewhere between 50's singlecoils and modern pickups with lots of twang(considerng the fact that it's STRAT' pickups). Texas type pickups have balanced mid & bass with slightly higher treble. I garrantee these pickups will cover any and all Strat' situations.

better than mexican standard pups

I own a bunch of strats and have tried a bunch of different pickups and here's the bottom line. I had a set of these in my california fat strat and I *liked* them. I swapped them out for some Seymour Duncans which I hated but for some reason left in for like 2 years. At the same time I installed a set of american standard pups in my mexican strat. Right off the bat I noticed how sweet the am pickups sounded compared to the Duncans. So I swapped the tex mex's back in my american strat, and I STILL like the american standard pickups better. They sound warmer and when I glide my pick across the strings, it's jsut a fuller tone. The tex mex's are too treble-y and harsh sounding...but they're better than the stock crappy mexican pickups, so if you can get em cheap, why not...
