The Merit Series Furman M-8 Power Conditioner is the perfect low-cost AC power solution for any rackmount system. Its 8 switched AC outlets in the rear panel power and protect all your equipment with up to a 15-amp load.

The Furman M-8 protects your delicate electronic equipment by combining high voltage varistor (MOV) surge and transient suppressors. The fast-acting supression circuit quickly responds and clamps transient voltages to safe levels. An RFI/EMI interference filter works to prevent noise from fluorescent lights, certain dimmers, radio transmitters, and similar sources of electronic pollution from contaminating the AC line and from there, leaking into sensitive audio, video, or computer circuits. The Furman M-8 Power Conditioner is NRTL/TUV listed.

  • Filtration of noise from radio frequencies and electromagnetic interference

I've owned one of these units in some form or another for ten years. They take care of neon buzz nicely, and even solved my guitar players issue of the radio playing through his amp. It's not meant to solve all your electrical problems, but works great for basic club gigs. I've plugged a lot of crap into it and never had it trip the protect circuit. This is a good unit for the $$.

I have opened the case up to fix a broken outlet, cams like that, then when I looked inside, the thing is just a regular surge protector. There was nothing at all that looked like conditioning. What you pay for when you buy it is the steel and copper wiring.

Great unit, I purchased this some time ago and had been using it stand alone, this weekend I installed it in my effects rack, it does just what it should.

Surge protector?

Got this because I read it will keep a constant output, therefor killing noise and pops from current changes. Definitely does not do that in any shape or form, maybe it will protect against a surge but so will a $3 strip from Walmart. Plugged in a monster cable home audio unit and it kills the light switch pops, now I need to get the rackmount version. This thing is worthless....

Rack Mounted Power Strip at Best

First off, this thing is far from a power conditioner, so don't be fooled. However, depending on what you use it for, it is an extremely useful peice of equipment. I own 2 - one on my DJ Rig and another on my Production Rig. It can only handle 15 amps (even though commercial circuits run 20). I am guessing it saves those other 5 as a safety buffer in case of a spike?!

Anywho. Its never let me down using it as a power strip. Protects against surges, has enough inputs on it to make me happy, and it has an input on the fron (great for plugging a cell phone charger into during gigs).

Worth the money in my books.
