I use these strings on two Strats; one an Eric Johnson model and the other an American Deluxe which I've customized. In standard tuning, they do play rather stiff, but the tone is superb! They play better on the deluxe model, perhaps due to the steel ball bearing nut that came on this model. Detuning 1/2 step on the EJ model really helps playability while keeping the great tone these strings offer. Tone is subjective, and everything plays a role...guitar, strings, amp, speakers and even the cables. I've been mixing and matching for 35 years, and these strings do enhance the tone of Strats.

These are the only semi-flat wound strings to be found. I used GHS Nickel Rockers for years before I knew SRV and Eric used them. Thanks to Eric for getting GHS to bring these back. His gauges provide the best intonation for a strat type guitar. I play detuned a whole step and these solve all intonation problems on a strat's E. These are not for beginners or standard tuners, too heavy. Trower taught me to string heavier and drop to a D for tone and power. These are the best, if you have not played the semi-flat GHS before you are missing out on a better made and tonal string.

I have only played on these strings once, but they made a he** of a first impression. I usually use Boomers, but I walked into a store and discovered that they didn't have any 10's but the guy that worked there knew I was an EJ nut, and asked me if had tried his strings. Well one thing led to another and I was very pleased with the strings.

I bought an EJ Strat, and wasn't impressed with the stock strings, but I put some of the EJ 10's on it, and the difference was amazing. Warm, full tone. I use them on most of my guitars now. I'm curious about the 11's, but the 10's are all my fingers can take for the SRV bends.
