Nice Case - but didn't fit my Ibanez

I tried this Gator case for an Ibanez Les Paul style guitar (ART320) - but it didn't fit. The floor of the Gator case was sloped downward toward the butt end of the case. With the guitar laying in the case, the fretboard angled up in the air. When I shut the case, it pushed down on the fretboard, thus lifting the butt end of the guitar off the floor of the case and putting stress on the neck!

I could have added my own padding to compensate (even a rag would suffice), but I decided to exchange the Gator case for the official Ibanez case. Maybe the Gator case had a defect, or maybe the real Gibson Les Paul guitar matches that angled contour.

Other than this, I liked the Gator case better than the Ibanez case. The Gator case had nicer fit and finish; it's clasps snapped more smoothly & securely; the plastic shell won't tear like the vinyl covering of the Ibanez case could; the accessory compartment of the Gator case was larger; and the Gator case had 3 hinges along the back (the Ibanez has 2 hinges and a clasp that you need to remember to unlatch before opening the case, else you'll rip out the clasp's rivets).

I have been using this case for about a month on my Epi. Les Paul. I am very confident that the guitar will be well protected.Case seems to be well built with a nice sized Accy.pocket.If you purchase this case you wont be disappointed.

I ended up sending back 4 guitar cases to fit my Ephiphone Prophesy guitar with a 24 fret fretboard. The only one's available to fit this guitar was a Gibson Deluxe LP case and a Gator GC-LPS Deluxe. The Gator GC-LPS filled the bill and it fits snug but was long enough to accomodate the longer head stock of this Epi. NONE of the Epi LP cases fit, they were to small, so was the SKB Deluxe LP case. If you want to protect your LP or Epi Prophesy LP this is the case. Great buy for either one.

The case easily fit my epi les paul custom, which is longer than the gibsons, even with the lockstraps attached. The padding inside is made of some pretty sturdy stuff, definitely not cheap foam. Also, the case has the plus of being strong and light. If you're looking for a case that is of better quality than the musician's gear cases but not expensive either, consider gator.

I have had this case for over a year now. Next to an ATA case this is the best case you can get. It's a very nice snug fit. A little tight at first, but that's just because you have to break it in with the size of your' guitar. Once that is done it's amazing. The guitar doesn't move at all. The compartment for strings, cleaner, picks, etc. is a nice size too. For the price is perfect. I have an ESP EC-400 so it's not an actual Les Paul, but it fits just as well. If you need a case, but don't have the bucks for an ATA case then buy this one. You won't regret it.
