GREAT PRACTICE PAD

This practice pad is great. It is very quiet and feels just like a bass drum. The only flaw is that if you play relly fast, the pad will shake a little. Over all its a good buy.

This item is great to keep your kick foot in shape. It is not totally silent. It has a nice "pop" to it if you are using a flat beater and a deep "thump" if you are using a conventional shaped head. There are a couple of issues with it though. First, you can literally eat a hole through this thing if you use a felt head. You can see the rubber pile up aroung the base and it leaves a nice little groove in the head. It's easy to fix though. All you need is a little ducktape to tape over the head in the strike area. The other issue is with the Axis pedals. The configuration of the base of this pad does not line up with the Axis clamp very well and this can cause the back end of the pad to come off of the floor when you tighten the clamp. This does not happen with my DW pedal though. Some simple garage engineering and a few ankle weights hold the back end of the base down nicely. All in all it is WELL worth the money and every drummer should have one of these.

Great for practice, not great for quiet practice

This is an excellent tool for keeping your chops when you don't have a kit to sit behind. It feels like an actual kick drum. I'm in a place where I can't have a kit, so I set up a kit with practice pads. This drum pad is a lot louder than the rest of them. So if silent practice is your aim, this may not be for you. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about this drum pad.

PROS: Very quiet practice pad, I thought it would be much louder, it's no louder than my snare pad. Very strong, I couldn't imagine this getting broken.

CONS: Limited in terms of features, you can't adjust the height or tension of the head. It wobbles side to side when you play fast bass drumming.

All in all, its a great practice pad.

IMO this is a great practice pad, good feel to it. But you can't use it with cheap pedals that don't have a footplate. It'll move around and squeak and all that good stuff. So make sure your pedal has a footplate, and this'll be nice and sturdy, and will be a great practice pad for you.
