I have had two j-45's and a J-160e that all came with the cream colored plastic pins. They are really terrible! They break when you change strings, they aren't finished very well (ugly moulding seams) and they don't fit well. They all seem a little loose. I would recommend the planet waves abs plastic pins. They are much more durable and they have a much better fit and finish. You can even get a cream colored set without the inlay dot so that they will match the stock ones perfectly.

I installed Gibson rosewood bridge pins on my Fender DG-21 and it really improves the tone. The guitar sounds fuller and richer and I think the sustain is longer than with the stock plastic pins. Note that you may need to trim the rosewood pins a little to make them fit non-Gibson bridges.
