I've only had this pickup in my guitar (Gibson Les Paul) For a minute or two and could already tell the difference in the sound. When you want it to be clean and smooth it can do that, and when you want it to be crunchy and mean it does that too! Gnarly pickup, would highly recommend it to all you serious guitar players.

Great for covering AC DC tone

The Angus Young pickup is a heck of a lot of fun, but it’s really a one dimensional pickup. It was made to play AC DC music, pushed hard through a loud Marshall tube Amp. Combining this pickup with a loud Marshall tube Amp will nail the ACDC tone that is a mix between the old days of Bon Scott, and the current days of Brian Johnson. This is the tone that this thing was made for. How could it not be? It’s a Gibson Angus Young Signature Pickup. If you think it’s going to cover the broad tonal range of a Gibson 57 Classic Plus, you are simply crazy. It would be like getting a DiMarzio Super Distortion with the expectation that it is going to sound like a Gibson Burstbucker Pro. This pickup was wound to play that very unique tone associated with AC DC.

With that said, if you play any AC DC music live, this lovely little pickup is a must in the bridge position of a humbucker equipped guitar. The going price is pretty high, but that is what you have to pay to get a quality pickup made by Gibson. If you want the best, you better be prepared to pay for the best. I’m not getting rid of mine because it’s so dang near close to a spot on tone of Angus Young’s. Just be prepared to have another guitar, equipped with different pickups, to cover any other music that is not AC DC.

Ive been using this pick up for a few years now once on a Tele and now on a Les Paul and I will tell you this the Pickup, Angus or not is amazing. The pickup is a little on the hot side compared to classic 57s. The cleans are very sharp and precise, but it really shows off when you turn it up. The tone is so smooth at high volumes with tons of attack. I play it on a Bogner and a Marshall JCM 800. If your looking for tone through pedals keep looking this is a purists pickup. If you just want to crank it and rock, the Angus Young Signature Humbucker Salutes You!

Overall great product. I got one to replace my Seymour Duncan to give a my Gibson Flying V a more classic tone with the '57 humbucker. I was amazed at how clear and bright the tone of my guitar had changed. It is also gave it a lot more varieties of tone it has, without creating the buzzy distortion it originally had.

A++
