The BurstBucker 2 is a humbucking pickup wound in the range of Gibson's '57 Classic for replica sound. Unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, just like the original. Slightly hotter than the BurstBucker 1, the 2 works well in the bridge position with a BurstBucker 1 pickup in the neck position.

I replaced the 498T pickup in my Gibson SG Standard with a BurstBucker 2, which was the best upgrade decision I've ever made. I find that it replaces the 'honk' of the 498T with a shimmering quality - the only downside being that the BurstBucker 2 isn't nearly as loud. For me it isn't an issue, but for some it will be. This pickup allows every characteristic of the guitar to shine through, which is great for 70's style rock through a good tube amp.

Burstbucker 2 vs. Burstbucker PRO

I was quite happy w/ the sound of my Epi LP Custom, but caved in to all the hype. After reading countless reviews & researching Gibson.com, I chose the type 2. Soundwise, its VERY VERY close to the Burstbucker PRO. ( I have an '05 Standard w/ PROs ) Same output, maybe a bit more bass & mid. The #2 Seems hotter, to me the PRO actually sounds more 'vitage'. Regardless, the #2 sounds AWESOME, & I'm completely happy. FEEDBACK ? I have a Marshall JTM30 combo - (30w) and a 50w JCM900 half stack switched to LO (25w). I use only an MXR EQ on each, and I can get usable stage volume from both- standing 6-10 feet from the amp. I wouldn't recommend the #2 BBucker w/ an amp more than 50w. The Burstbucker PROs had NO feedback (they are wax-potted) w/ volume cranked ALL THE WAY UP. If you have a hi-wattage amp, go w/ the PROs. No feedback & you'll barely tell any difference to the type 2 at high volume.

I find myself becomming more and more a strat guy until I find a LP loaded up with some Burstbuckers! Gibson sponsored a Blues Festival in Jacksonville, and brought a trailer full of goodies. My favorite was the custom shop 5A Maple flamed LP Supreme. It had the Burstbucker #2 in the neck and #3 in the bridge, and I'm telling you that guitar is worth selling your car for.

Classic sound

I purchased this to be put into my PRS Santanta SE because the bridge pickup in the guitar was not hot enough. This pickup in great! If you want the classic rock, Zeppelin-like sound buy it. Clean, the pickup is a bit twangy, like a Telecaster. Distorted, it is hot and ballsy. The low end is nice and the highs are screamin' hot. I would recommend the Burstbucker for classic rock and blues and maybe for a little of metal. Great. Buy it now!!!!!
