These Gold Machine Heads from Gibson are made to the same quality standards as the originals, right down to their pearloid buttons. These are the kind of tuning machines that will spiff up an older guitar and make tuning a pleasure.

Vintage look and dated design

These tuners are too quirky to be worth the vintage vibe. Go with the modern Gibson tuners if you are looking to upgrade. I did and I'm much happier with my Gibson.

Ruined by the pearloids.

The "Pearloid Buttons" is a fancy term for "Plastic Buttons." I bought a Gibson V at one point which came equipped with these, and the buttons all eventually broke. Stick with tuning posts that have metal knobs, the "classic look" isn't worth it. Rating this a 4 because the tuning mechanisms themselves work well, but that doesn't matter much if you can't turn them without plyers.

Gibson needs to improve these tuners

These tuners cam on a used/modified Gibson Les paul Custom that I got several years back. They don't stay in tune very well and are somewhat expensive, considering they aren't very functional. I've read that other people have had similar tuning problems with these.
